About

Solace turns any web page into a calmer, more accessible reading space. Whether you have dyslexia, visual stress, ADHD, low vision, or simply want text that's easier on the eyes — Solace adapts every page to suit you. Free, private, no account required.
Reading & visual comfort

Choose from OpenDyslexic, Lexend, Verdana, Tahoma, Comic Sans, or Arial — icon-safe, so site icons stay intact
Adjust zoom (80–160%), line spacing, letter spacing, word spacing, paragraph spacing, and line width
Apply a warm colour tint (cream, peach, rose, mint, sky, grey, or dim) and adjust its strength
Reading ruler — a focus band that follows your cursor
Colour-vision assist for protanopia, deuteranopia, and tritanopia
Reduce motion — stops animations, transitions, and autoplaying video
Settings saved per site automatically

Read aloud

Reads the whole page or your selection, heading-aware
Choose from every voice installed in your system and Chrome — typically dozens spanning many languages and regional accents (US, UK, Australian, Indian English and more)
Speed 0.25× to 2×, adjustable pitch
Word-by-word highlighting; floating on-screen player with pause, resume, and stop
Alt-click any paragraph to start reading from that point
Optionally reads image alt-text

On-device AI — free, no API key, nothing sent to any server
Uses Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano model. Everything runs locally.

Summarize & read: summarise the page and read it aloud (key-points, TL;DR, or teaser)
Simplify: rewrite in clear, plain language
Translate: into Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Hindi, Chinese, or Arabic
Describe image: spoken description of the main image
Requires a supported desktop Chrome with sufficient hardware. Solace hides these tools automatically on unsupported devices.

Reader mode
Strip away clutter and sidebars to show clean article text in a focused panel — readable aloud, copyable, or summarisable.
Dictionary on select
Select any word to see its pronunciation and definitions instantly, with a speaker button to hear it read aloud.
Video caption styling
Restyle browser-native caption tracks: font size (80–220%), text colour, background opacity.
Profiles & quick start

Four starter profiles: Dyslexia, Low vision, ADHD focus, Photosensitive
