About

Datadog APM Tracer is a browser extension that injects Datadog APM trace headers into network requests, helping developers debug end-to-end application flows from local browser sessions.

  FEATURES:
  • Multi-domain support - Configure multiple domains to trace (one per line)
  • Automatic header injection - Adds x-datadog-trace-id, x-datadog-parent-id, x-datadog-origin, and x-datadog-sampling-priority headers
  • Direct Datadog link - One-click access to view your trace in Datadog APM
  • Visual indicators - Traced tabs are grouped and highlighted in green
  • Auto-cleanup - Tracer automatically disables when the traced tab is closed

  HOW TO USE:
  1. Instrument your frontend and backend services with Datadog APM
  2. Add your domains in the extension options (one per line)
  3. Navigate to your application and click the extension toggle
  4. Use the generated trace ID or link to find your trace in Datadog

  PERFECT FOR:
  • Debugging distributed systems and microservices
  • Tracing requests from browser to backend
  • Creating traces that bypass retention filters for debugging purposes

Note: Your applications must be instrumented with Datadog APM for traces to appear.
