  Share your laptop without exposing your private tabs. Locktab hides any browser tab behind a blurred overlay or a  decoy page — your bank account, your weird DMs, your work-in-progress, whatever it is. Kids, coworkers, roommates,  presentation mode: none of them see what's behind the lock.

  • DevTools keyboard shortcuts blocked while locked (F12, Ctrl+Shift+I, etc.)
  • Right-click disabled on the overlay
  • MutationObserver re-injects the overlay if someone tries to delete it via DevTools
  • Access log of every unlock attempt — successful, failed, or tampered
  • Install date tracking — catches uninstall/reinstall attempts via Chrome sync
  • 5-attempt password lockout with 60-second cooldown
  • Interactive decoy pages that show "Something went wrong" errors when clicked

  🎭 DECOY MODE

  Anyone glancing at your screen sees a broken error page, a fake Google homepage, or an ordinary Twitter feed — not a  big "something is hidden here" blur. Triple-click anywhere to reveal the real unlock prompt.

  Ships with 7 built-in themes and is designed to be extensible — developers can add custom decoys by dropping a file in  the decoys/ folder.

  Locktab is tamper-evident, not tamper-proof. It's effective against casual snooping and keeps your settings visible if  someone tries to bypass it — but it is not a replacement for disk encryption, OS-level user accounts, or dedicated security software.
