About

TalkOver is the fastest way to record a browser tab as a polished video — with a circular or rectangular webcam overlay, microphone narration, and tab audio. One click captures demos, tutorials, bug reports, and walkthroughs without leaving your browser. Export as MP4, WebM, or animated GIF, all generated locally on your machine.
✦ Why TalkOver
Most screen recorders push you toward a desktop app, a sign-up form, or a cloud upload. TalkOver does none of that. Every byte of every recording stays inside your browser, on your computer, until you decide to save it. No account. No telemetry. No tracking. No network requests at all.
✦ What you can do
• Record the active tab at its native resolution, with optional tab audio
• Add a webcam picture-in-picture in any corner, as a rectangle, square, or circle
• Narrate with your microphone — mic and tab audio are mixed automatically
• Trim the result before exporting with a live preview
• Switch tabs mid-recording and the capture follows you, stitched into a single file
• Export to MP4, WebM, or animated GIF with adjustable FPS, scale, and quality
• Start and stop with Alt+Shift+R, no popup needed
• Files are named after the tab title and timestamp, so they sort themselves
✦ Privacy
TalkOver does not collect, transmit, or share any data — period. Recordings live only in your browser's IndexedDB and are cleared when you start a new recording in that tab or close the tab. ✦ Permissions, plainly
• tabCapture — to capture the tab while you're recording
• activeTab — to name the file after the tab's title
• offscreen — required by Manifest V3 to run a MediaRecorder in the background
• storage — to remember your settings between sessions
Mic and camera access are requested only if you turn those features on, via a standard browser prompt.
