HOW IT WORKS

1. Click the StyleForge toolbar button to activate insab.
2. Hover over any element — a dashed violet outline and a tooltip identify what you're pointing at.
3. Click to lock your selection. A floating editor panel opens beside the element.

HOW IT WORKS

FEATURES

Point-and-click element selection
Hover to preview, click to lock. StyleForge suppresseslicks on links, form submits) while an element isselected, so you don't accidentally navigate away mid-edit.

Floating editor panel
The panel auto-docks to whichever side of the viewport has more room relative to the selected element, and you can drag it by its header to anywhere you like. It stays out of your way while you work.

Live CSS editing with autocomplete
Type any CSS property name or value in the raw CSS textarea — autocomplete suggestions appear above the input as you type. Navigate with
↑↓, confirm with Enter or Tab, dismiss with Esc. Prope from the browser's own computed-style API (not ahardcoded list), so every property your version of Chrome supports is available.

Pre-filled with the element's real styles
When you select an element, the CSS box opens pre-filled with the styles that are actually making the element look the way it does — a
computed-style diff against a pristine same-tag probe,l properties. You see what matters, without the noise of default browser styles or irrelevant box dimensions.

Apply to this element or all similar elements at once
The "Apply to" segmented control lets you switch between editing just the selected element, or every element on the page that shares the
same tag and class list. When "All similar" is active,soft dashed outline so you always know what's in scope."Copy CSS" in similar mode exports a group selector covering all of them.

Reset per element
Each element's original inline style is snapshotted on first selection. The Reset button restores it exactly, undoing only what StyleForge changed — no full page reload needed.

Copy CSS — only what you changed
"Copy CSS" outputs a minimal, clean CSS block containing only the properties you explicitly edited. No !important in the output. No clutter
from the pre-fill. Just the delta, ready to paste into

Works on SVGs and complex pages
SVG elements, shadow DOM hosts, pages with aggressive global CSS resets — StyleForge handles them. The editor panel and all overlays live inside a closed Shadow DOM so the host page's styles can never leak in, and your edits can never leak out.

PRIVACY & PERMISSIONS

StyleForge requests three permissions — nothing more:

- activeTab — access to the current tab only, and onlyNo access to your browsing history, other tabs, orbackground pages.
- scripting — required to inject the editor into the pe script is injected on demand; StyleForge touches zeropages until you explicitly activate it.
- storage — remembers per-tab activation state within nly. No data is written to persistent storage, sent to a server, or shared with anyone.

StyleForge contains no analytics, no tracking, no remoire extension runs locally in your browser.

TECHNICAL NOTES

- Manifest V3, service-worker based — no background page kept alive unnecessarily.
- Zero dependencies. No frameworks, no build pipeline, no third-party code.
- The content script is idempotent — reloading the exteatedly is safe.
- Memory-efficient: per-element edit records are stored in a WeakMap, so removed DOM nodes are never retained.
- No declared content scripts — the extension installs cleanly and runs zero code on any page until you turn it on.

GETTING STARTED

After installing, pin StyleForge to your toolbar. NavityleForge icon, then hover over an element to begin. The extension works on any http or https page where Chrome permits extension scripting (not on chrome:// pages or the Chrome Web Store itself, per platform policy).
