About

Advanced Image Blocker gives you complete control over visual media in your browser. Block images, videos, SVGs, canvas elements, CSS backgrounds, and iframes with granular per-type toggles. Track your bandwidth savings, manage domain whitelists, and enjoy dual-layer blocking that stops media at both the network and DOM level.

★ GRANULAR MEDIA BLOCKING

Choose exactly which media types to block:
• Images (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, and all other formats)
• SVG graphics (skips tiny icons under 48px)
• Videos and video embeds (YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, Dailymotion)
• Canvas elements
• CSS background images (excludes gradients)
• Iframes and embedded media players

Toggle each type independently from the Control Panel.

★ WHITELIST-BASED BLOCKING

Block all media by default and whitelist only the domains you trust:
• Add domains to allow media on specific sites
• Blocked Image Domains — third-party image sources blocked everywhere
• Page Exceptions — specific URLs where media bypasses blocking
• Quick Category Presets — one-click configurations for News, Social, Shopping, and Work browsing

★ PER-TAB CONTROL

• Global toggle — enable or disable blocking across all tabs
• Per-tab toggle — override blocking for individual tabs
• Changes take effect immediately with automatic page reload

★ SMART PLACEHOLDERS

Blocked media is replaced with styled placeholder cards showing:
• Media type icon and label ("Image Blocked", "Video Blocked", etc.)
• Original dimensions of the blocked element
• Alt text preserved for accessibility
• Interactive "Load" button to reveal individual items on demand
• Optional hover preview for blocked images

★ SIZE FILTER

Only block images larger than a specified width and height. Small icons and UI elements pass through while large banner images are blocked — useful for decluttering pages without breaking layouts.

★ BANDWIDTH TRACKING
Monitor how much data you've saved by blocking media:
• Session total, daily total, and all-time savings
• Top blocked sites ranked by savings
• Estimated bandwidth calculated from element dimensions
• Live quick-stats display in the popup header

★ BLOCKING HISTORY

Review a log of recent blocking activity with timestamps, domains, and blocked counts. Clear history at any time from the Statistics panel.

★ RIGHT-CLICK CONTEXT MENU

Quickly manage domains without opening the popup:
• "Block images on this site" — remove from whitelist
• "Allow images on this site" — add to whitelist
• "Block images from this domain" — block a third-party image source
• "Allow images on this page only" — add a page exception

★ KEYBOARD SHORTCUT
• Alt+I — toggle image blocking for the current tab instantly

★ DUAL-LAYER BLOCKING

Media is blocked at two levels for maximum effectiveness:
• Network level — Content Security Policy headers injected via
declarativeNetRequest to block images before they download
• DOM level — content script processes the page to replace remaining elements with placeholders and monitors for dynamically loaded content.

★ YOUR PRIVACY, PROTECTED

All blocking rules, settings, bandwidth data, and history are stored locally on your device via chrome.storage.local. No data is sent to any external server. The extension makes zero network requests for its own operation — the only network activity is standard page loading, which the extension selectively blocks.

Block smarter. Browse cleaner. Install Advanced Image Blocker today.
