About
FastNews is a lightweight background assistant for Chrome. You define tag groups — topics, regions, tickers, or names — and it watches fresh headlines for you. When something matches and the AI says it’s important enough, you get a native Chrome notification instead of doomscrolling every site by hand. WHAT FASTNEWS DOES • Tag groups you actually care about: combine comma-separated terms (e.g. “Dubai”, “UAE”, “oil”) into a named group; each group can be on or off and has its own alert threshold from 0–100. • AI scoring on new matches: importance, urgency, category, and a one-line summary — so you see why a headline mattered before you open it. • Smart notifications: desktop alerts only when the score meets your threshold for that group; mute globally anytime and keep polling quietly. • Feed + search in the popup: last 24 hours vs older items, optional “only important (≥70)” filter, and quick search across title, summary, and source. • Map & markets (Pro): a geographic view of recent stories and a markets tab with pinned tickers and sparklines — optional extras on top of the same news core. SUMMARIES IN YOUR LANGUAGE FastNews doesn’t just dump raw RSS titles. You pick a summary language in settings (English, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Arabic, and more over time); the backend can localize headlines and summaries so reading stays comfortable even when sources are in another language. STAYS OUT OF YOUR WAY • Runs from a service worker + scheduled polls — no extra tab to keep open. • Opens articles only when you click a headline or a notification; nothing is posted or shared for you. • Free tier keeps the core loop simple; Pro unlocks faster minimum refresh, more tag groups, and the map/markets experience. PRIVACY • Sign in with Google (email + profile) for the shared vsdev account and weekly AI quota. • Headlines and text needed for scoring are sent to FastNews servers only as part of normal operation; not used for ads or sold. Full policy: https://vsdev.cc/legal/privacy PLANS • Free: core feed and notifications with up to three tag groups and a minimum refresh interval of five minutes. • vsdev Pro: up to twenty tag groups, minimum refresh down to two minutes, and Pro-only UI such as Markets and the map — one subscription also covers Drafto and future vsdev extensions where applicable.
