About
ALPAS RFID Extension is a Chrome extension designed to securely control RFID readers connected to a user's local computer from an internal, organization-managed web-based library or asset management system. The extension communicates with locally installed RFID vendor software to enable reading and writing RFID tag data from RFID hardware physically connected to the user's machine. Key Features • Control locally connected RFID readers • Read RFID tag information • Write RFID tag information • Secure integration between internal web applications and local RFID hardware (RFID write operations are performed only after explicit user-initiated actions within the ALPAS system.) Requirements & Notes • This extension requires compatible RFID hardware and vendor-provided software to be installed on the user's computer. • Local RFID services are provided by different vendors and may use varying local network configurations depending on the device and environment. • Without RFID hardware, the extension may return test or diagnostic responses only. • The extension operates exclusively on the user's local machine and does not communicate with any external servers. Privacy & Security • This extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. • All network communication is limited to user-controlled local services running on the user's own machine (e.g. localhost or 127.0.0.1). • The extension does not access arbitrary external websites or remote services. • No data is transmitted to third-party or external servers.
