🛠️ HOW IT WORKS
──────────────────────────────

PingPulse sends a HEAD request to each server and measures the round-trip time using the browser's performance API. Results are averaged over 3 samples to filter outliers.

Note: Browser-based ping includes TCP + TLS overhead and will read ~70-90ms higher than ICMP ping. The results are consistent and reliable for comparison purposes.

All servers are IP-based endpoints that return minimal responses — no ads, no tracking, no page loads.

🔐 PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED
──────────────────────────────

- tabs + activeTab: to read your current tab URL for the "Ping Current Tab" feature
- notifications: to alert you when server status changes
- alarms: to power the auto-refresh feature that works even when the popup is closed
- storage: to save your scan history and preferences locally
- host_permissions (specific IPs): to send HEAD requests to the ping servers

No browsing history is accessed or stored. The current tab URL is only used to ping that server — it is never transmitted anywhere.
