About
**URL Redirector** lets you remap links from one website to another with a single right-click. Define a source root URL and a target root URL, and any link that falls under the source path can be instantly opened at the equivalent location on the target site. **How It Works** Set your source and target root URLs in the extension settings. For example: - Source: https://oldsite.com/docs/ - Target: https://newsite.com/documentation/ Now, when you're browsing oldsite.com and right-click any link like https://oldsite.com/docs/api/reference, you'll see a context menu option to "Open on newsite.com". Click it, and a new tab opens at https://newsite.com/documentation/api/reference. The extension preserves everything after the source root and maps it directly onto the target. **Who Is This For?** URL Redirector is a simple, flexible tool that's useful in a surprising number of situations: - Website Migrations: When a site moves to a new domain or restructures its URLs, quickly jump between the old and new versions of any page to compare content, verify that nothing was lost, or check formatting differences. - Web Archives: Pair a live website with its counterpart on an archive service. If the archive mirrors the same URL hierarchy, you can right-click any link on the live site and instantly view the archived version, or vice versa. - Development and Staging: Developers working across production, staging, and development environments can jump from a production page to its staging equivalent without manually editing the URL bar. Set your production site as the source and your staging server as the target. - Documentation Versions: Many projects host versioned docs under different paths or subdomains. Quickly jump between versions of the same page to compare API changes, check for deprecated features, or read updated guides. - Content Comparison: Bloggers, researchers, and content managers who work with syndicated or mirrored content can hop between the original source and any republished version to spot differences. - Localized Sites: Some websites host different language versions under different paths (e.g., /en/ vs /fr/). Use URL Redirector to quickly switch between the localized version of any page. - Mirror Sites and CDNs: When content is available on multiple mirrors or CDN endpoints, jump between them to test availability, compare load times, or verify content consistency. **Simple Setup, No Clutter** Configuration takes about ten seconds. Click the extension icon, enter your two URLs, and hit Save. There are no complex rules to write, no regex to learn, and no configuration files to manage. The context menu option only appears when you're browsing pages on your source domain, so it stays out of your way everywhere else. **Privacy Friendly** URL Redirector does not collect, transmit, or store any browsing data. Your source and target URLs are saved locally in Chrome's sync storage (synced across your own Chrome profiles if you use Chrome Sync, but never sent anywhere else). The extension does not make any network requests, does not track your browsing activity, and does not inject scripts into web pages. **Lightweight** The entire extension runs as a minimal service worker. It uses no background processes when idle, consumes no memory when you're not using it, and requires only the permissions it needs: context menus to add the right-click option, and storage to remember your settings.
