About
TabFinder — Find the tab you lost Too many tabs open again? TabFinder helps you quickly find the browser tab you were looking for — without digging through every window one by one. Instead of only relying on tab titles, TabFinder can also search available page content locally in your browser, so you have a better chance of finding the right tab even when the title is vague, shortened, or not helpful. What TabFinder does 🔎 Search your open tabs Type what you remember — a title, website, topic, keyword, or part of the page content — and TabFinder shows matching open tabs. ⚡ Jump to the right tab fast Click a result to instantly switch to that tab. You can also press Enter to open the first matching result. 🧠 Search more than just titles TabFinder can index available visible page content, metadata, headings, URLs, and page titles to make tab search more useful. 🔒 Local-first and privacy-friendly TabFinder works locally in your browser. There is no account, no backend, no cloud sync, no analytics, and no tracking. 🛡️ Privacy Mode included Privacy Mode is enabled by default and tries to avoid indexing pages that look sensitive, such as banking, payment, login, email, or form-heavy pages. ⚙️ Simple settings You can choose whether TabFinder should index visible page content or only search tab titles and URLs. Why use TabFinder? Sometimes you know exactly what you are looking for — but not where it is. Maybe the tab title is useless. Maybe you opened the same website five times. Maybe the tab is buried in another window. Maybe you remember a keyword from the page, but not the page title. TabFinder is built for that moment. It is not trying to be a huge tab manager, workspace tool, or complicated productivity system. It is simply a fast way to search through your open tabs and get back to what you were doing. Privacy TabFinder is designed to be simple and respectful of your data. No login required No external server No AI processing No tracking No analytics No selling or sharing data Temporary local cache only Form fields are not indexed Privacy Mode is enabled by default TabFinder may temporarily store scanned tab information locally in your browser to make searching faster. You can clear this temporary cache at any time using the “Clear cache” button. Some websites load content dynamically or hide parts of the page from extensions. Because of that, not every visible detail on every website may be searchable. Best for ✅ People with many open tabs ✅ Students and researchers ✅ Developers ✅ YouTube, Reddit, article, and documentation browsing ✅ Anyone who often thinks: “Where was that tab again?” Permissions explained TabFinder needs browser permissions to read your open tabs and available page content so it can build a local search index. This access is used only for the core function of the extension: helping you find open tabs faster. Everything stays local in your browser.
