About

Stop hunting for your SOPs. Let them come to you.

You wrote the steps once. Then they got buried somewhere in Drive. Now nobody opens them.

SOP Sidekick fixes that. The right checklist shows up the second you open the matching web page.

 What you get

• The right checklist, every time. Open Gmail and your inbox SOP shows up. Open a GitHub page and the pull request SOP shows up. You don't have to remember where things live.
• No more searching. A small orange number on the toolbar tells you when a SOP matches the page. No badge means no SOP. Easy to scan.
• Your team's playbook in a Google Sheet. Every SOP is one row in a normal Google Sheet. Add a row. Change a row. Done. No new app to learn.
• Built-in proof of work. Click "Log completion" when you finish. A small message goes to any tool you pick — Make.com, Zapier, your own setup. The message says what page you were on, every step, and which steps you checked. Drop it in a Sheet, send it to Slack, start your next workflow.
• Source docs right next to the steps. Add a Google Doc, Loom, YouTube link, or PDF to a row. The side panel shows it inside the panel so you can read or watch while you check off steps.

Set it up in one minute

1. Click the gear in the side panel. The Options page opens.
2. Click "copy this Google Sheet" to make your own copy of our example. It has four real SOPs

Privacy in one sentence

SOP Sidekick reads only the web page address you're on — never the page itself — and only sends data to your own Google Sheet and the place you choose for completion logs.

TESTING THE SEO SIDEKICK
=======================
This extension does not require an account, login, or external service to evaluate. The fastest end-to-end test takes ~90 seconds.

QUICK TEST PATH:
1. Install / Load unpacked.
2. Click the SOP Sidekick toolbar icon. The side panel opens with an empty state.
3. In the side panel toolbar, click the gear icon. The Options page opens in a new tab.
4. In Section 1, click "copy this Google Sheet". This opens a Google "Make a copy" prompt for a public template Sheet (4 example SOPs). Click Make a copy.
5. Share the Google Sheet: Share » General Access » Anyone with the link
6. Copy the URL of the Sheet that opens in your Drive
7. Back in Options, paste the URL into "Google Sheet URL or ID". Click Save. Click Test Sheet connection. Result: "Connected — loaded 4 SOPs."
8. Open a new tab and visit https://github.com/. The toolbar icon shows an orange "1" badge. The side panel shows "How to make a pull request" with 12 checkable items and an embedded Google Doc preview.
9. Tick a few items — progress bar updates.

ADDITIONAL VERIFICATION:
- Visit https://studio.youtube.com/ → "Post a YouTube video with SEO" SOP appears.
- Visit https://example.com/ → empty state with a "no match" message.
- Click the sun/moon/computer buttons in the side panel toolbar — UI fades between themes.
- Click the "?" button — a Help tab opens documenting all features.

WEBHOOK TEST (optional):
- Open https://webhook.site, copy the unique URL.
- In Options Section 2, paste it into Webhook URL. Click Save.
- On a matching page, tick items, click Log completion.
- webhook.site receives a POST with: timestamp, URL, page title, SOP details (title/pattern/link), summary counts, full items array (each with completed: true/false), and convenience arrays of completed/notCompleted items.

WHAT THE EXTENSION DOES NOT DO:
- Does not read page contents (only the URL via chrome.tabs.query).
- Does not inject content scripts.
- Does not perform remote code execution.
- Does not send analytics or telemetry.
- Network calls only to: docs.google.com (user's Sheet) and the webhook URL the user pastes (only on Log completion).
