About

Active Web Clipper automatically saves web pages as you browse — no clicking, no manual clipping. Just read, and it handles the rest.

**How It Works:**
- Pages are saved automatically after you spend time reading them (default: 15 seconds)
- The extension extracts the main content and comments separately, builds a full-text search index, and tracks reading behavior (scroll depth, dwell time, revisits)
- A smart scoring system ranks pages by engagement — content you care about rises to the top

**Key Features:**
- Full-text search across all saved pages — find anything you've read in milliseconds
- Comment extraction: saves page comments separately from the main article, displayed in a collapsible section in the reader view
- Smart full-text mode: automatically strips low-value pages to save storage, re-saves them if you return and read deeply
- Similar pages: discover related content from your saved library
- Domain filtering, favorites, deep reads, revisits, and time-based filters
- Reader view for distraction-free reading
- Right-click context menu to favorite or save any page instantly
- Export/import backup in NDJSON format
- Dark mode and 15 language support

**Privacy First:**
- All data stays on your device — stored in IndexedDB, never sent anywhere
- No external servers, no analytics, no tracking
- Banking, medical, login, and government sites are blocked by default
- Fully configurable blocklist for sensitive domains

**Advanced Integration (optional, local-only):**
- MCP Server: query your browsing history from MCP-compatible tools using natural language
- DOM Bridge: expose saved page data to browser-based automation tools through the page DOM
- Both features are disabled by default and operate entirely on your device

Active Web Clipper is open-source and built for people who read a lot on the web and want a private, searchable knowledge base of everything they've consumed.
