    description
Safe Browse Web Filter - HKM is a parental control extension for your child’s account that helps you maintain a safe and focused browsing experience by blocking videos and images containing user-configured restricted keywords. You Control What You Want To See!

There are 3 categories of Keywords:
"Restricted Keywords": Keywords that trigger Targeted Image Filtering and YouTube Video Filtering.
"Blocked Keywords": Keywords that trigger Full-Page Blocking (except on Allowed Domains). Applies to both the URL and webpage body.
"Allowed Keywords": Keywords that Override all Restricted and Blocked Keywords, as well as those in Category-Based Filtering. When present, they allow content to display normally.

    Features:
    1. Targeted Image Blocking: Suggestive images are blurred and labeled “Blocked image” if they match restricted keywords.
    2. YouTube Video Filtering: YouTube videos are automatically checked for restricted keywords in their title, description, or metadata; any matching video—whether on the video page, homepage/feed, playlist, or Shorts—is blurred, playback is disabled, and a clear “Video Restricted” warning overlay is displayed. However, if Allowed Keywords are present, they will bypass the Restricted Keywords.
    3. Full-Page Blocking: Hides pages with blocked keywords, except Allowed Domains. Supports Advanced Filtering on Webpage Body.
    4. Targeted Video Blocking: Video playback is blocked on all websites listed under Blocked Domains by the user.
    5. Category-Based Filtering: Enable or disable keyword filtering for the four categories: Movies, Sports, Games & Entertainment with a single click.
    6. Digital Downtime: Schedule periods when web browsing is completely blocked.

Web Browsing Master Toggle: Browsing is disabled by default for maximum protection. Enable Web Browsing from the top section of the Settings page to allow normal website access.

Quick Settings Panel: Easily add new Restricted and Blocked Keywords and export all configurations as a JSON file through a modern dark-themed, user-friendly interface — no password required.

    YouTube.com → Watch videos here.
Google.com, Bing.com → Use these as search engines.

Control filtering on YouTube by configuring your Restricted & Allowed Keywords.
Sites like Google, Bing, Wikipedia, or ChatGPT may sometimes display Blocked Keywords. These are generally safe sites, so you can place them under Allowed Domains (Bypass Full-Page Blocking).
However, search engines such as Google and Bing can also be added to Blocked Domains if you want to disable video playback on them. This ensures that YouTube remains the only platform where videos can be watched safely.

Each keyword is treated individually. Variations or plurals of a word are not automatically included and must be added separately. For example:
"prank", "pranks", and "pranking" are separate keywords.
This applies to all keyword-based filtering: full-page blocking, targeted image blocking, and YouTube video filtering.

Allowed Domains Matching Logic: Any keyword in the allowed domains list will match any part of a domain or subdomain, not just whole words.
    Ex: "hkm" → ✅ hkmhyderabad.org, ✅ myhkmwebsite.com, ✅ video.hkmmumbai.org.
⚠️ Note: Don't leave any field blank, as it will allow all domains.
For vedabase.io/en/library/ → Even 'veda' or 'v' will match. 'v' will match all hosts which contain 'v'.

Administrator/Parent Lock Mode: When enabled, the extension password is managed by a system administrator or parent and cannot be changed or removed by the user.

Lightweight, fully local, and privacy-respecting— no personal data is collected or transmitted. All keywords, allowed domains & Password for accessing Settings page, everything is stored locally on user device.
Perfect for parents, educators, and anyone seeking safe, mindful browsing.

Note: No parental control system offers 100% filtering. Parental supervision is always recommended.
