About

Time Blocker — Focus on what matters. Block the rest.

Time Blocker is a lightweight Chrome extension that helps you stay focused by blocking distracting websites exactly when you need it — and getting out of the way the rest of the time.

Unlike app-level blockers or system-wide tools, Time Blocker works directly inside Chrome with zero configuration overhead. No account, no subscription, no data sent to any server. Everything runs locally in your browser.

How it works

Create a blocking rule by specifying which domains to block, which days of the week it applies, and the time window. Time Blocker handles the rest. The moment you try to navigate to a blocked site during an active schedule, you'll land on a clean blocked page instead — a reminder to stay on track

Key features

- Flexible scheduling — set any time window, including cross-midnight ranges (e.g. 22:00–06:00). Choose specific days of the week for each rule.
- Wildcard domain support — block an entire platform with patterns like *.reddit.com, or target a single subdomain precisely.
- Strict mode — enable it on a rule to prevent disabling it while the schedule is active. Useful for deep work sessions where you know you'll be tempted to turn it off.
- Block statistics — see which sites you've tried to visit and how many times, so you can understand your own distraction patterns.
- Multiple rules — create separate rules for work hours, study sessions, evenings, or weekends.
- Instant toggle — enable or disable any non-strict rule in one click directly from the popup.

Privacy first

Time Blocker stores your rules and statistics exclusively in your browser's local storage. It makes no outbound network requests and shares no data with any third party. The broad host permission (all_urls) is required solely to intercept navigations — it is never used to read page content.

Who is it for?

- Remote workers and freelancers who need structured focus blocks
- Students managing study sessions
- Anyone who wants a simple, no-account alternative to tools like Cold Turkey, Freedom, or Opal — without installing separate software

Time Blocker is open source. Feedback and contributions are welcome.
