About

The AEM Developer Companion is a high-performance Chrome extension designed specifically for Adobe Experience Manager developers and power users. It eliminates the friction of navigating deep into AEM consoles and switching between authoring modes, saving you dozens of clicks every hour.

Built on Chrome’s modern Manifest V3 architecture, the extension is lightweight, secure, and utilizes layout-independent key mapping—ensuring your shortcuts work perfectly regardless of your regional keyboard settings.

Core Features
Instant WCM Mode Toggling: Switch between "Edit" and "Disabled" modes instantly without manually editing the URL.
Deep-Link Navigation: One-click access to CRXDE Lite, Package Manager, Replication Agents, Query Debugger, and more.
Intelligent Multi-Key Sequences: A sophisticated shortcut engine that allows for complex navigation (like opening the Config Manager or Sling Logs) using quick, easy-to-remember key combinations.
Context-Aware Menus: A comprehensive right-click menu that detects your current environment and provides relevant navigation links.
Tab Duplication: Quickly clone your current AEM page with a single shortcut for side-by-side comparisons.
How to Use It
1. The Context Menu (Right-Click)
Right-click anywhere on a webpage to access the AEM Developer Companion menu. From here, you can jump directly to:

Authoring Shortcuts: Toggle "Edit" or "Disabled" mode on the current page.
Navigation: Sites, Assets, Templates, Experience Fragments, and CRXDE.
Tools: Operations, MSM Blueprints, and Replication Agents.
System Console: Bundles, Configuration Manager, JMX, and Sling Logs.
2. Keyboard Shortcuts (The Power User Way)
All shortcuts are triggered by holding Alt + Shift. The extension uses a layout-independent system (mapping physical keys), so "D" always means "D".

Authoring & Window Toggles:

Alt + Shift + E: Wrap the current page in /editor.html/ (Edit Mode).
Alt + Shift + D: Append wcmmode=disabled and remove the editor wrapper.
Alt + Shift + Z: Duplicate the current tab.
Direct Navigation (Hold Alt + Shift + Key):

S: AEM Start Page
T: Templates Console
C: CRXDE Lite
P: Package Manager
R: Replication Agents
Q: Query Debugger
I: Login Page
U: User Management
G: Group Management
3. Multi-Key Sequences (Advanced Navigation)
To prevent shortcut conflicts, some consoles are mapped to sequences. To trigger these: Hold Alt + Shift, tap the First Key, release the keys, and then tap the Second Key within 2 seconds.

System Consoles (F Sequence):
F then C: Configuration Manager (/system/console/configMgr)
F then B: Bundles Console (/system/console/bundles)
F then L: Sling Logs (/system/console/slinglog)
Content & Security (A or X Sequences):
X then F: Experience Fragments
A then D: Assets Console
A then C: Permissions/ACL Console
Technical Highlights for Developers
Performance Optimized: The content script (inject.js) is designed with lazy evaluation. It doesn't parse URLs or scan cookies until a relevant shortcut is actually pressed, ensuring zero impact on browser performance.
Manifest V3 Compliant: Uses a Service Worker for background tasks and host_permissions for secure, scoped access to AEM environments.
Cheat Sheet Included: If you ever forget a shortcut, simply click the extension icon in your browser toolbar to see a clean, modern popup containing the full shortcut reference.
Isolated Logic: Authoring toggles (Edit/Disabled) are protected by cookie checks to ensure they only fire when the extension detects an AEM authoring environment.
