About
CertChain Inspector lets developers, security researchers, and curious users dig into the complete SSL/TLS certificate chain of any HTTPS website — directly from the browser toolbar. --- WHAT IT SHOWS---- • Full certificate chain (leaf → intermediate → root) • Subject & Issuer (Common Name, Organization, Country, etc.) • Validity period with color-coded status (valid / expiring soon / expired) • Subject Alternative Names (SANs) • Serial number & signature algorithm • SHA-256 and SHA-1 fingerprints • TLS protocol version, cipher suite, and key exchange details ── EXPORT & COPY ── • Export button downloads a structured .txt summary of the leaf certificate • One-click copy of the SHA-256 fingerprint to clipboard ── PRIVACY ── This extension does not collect, transmit, or store any data. Certificate data is read on-demand and held only in memory for the current session. It is never written to disk, sent to a server, or shared with any third party. ⚠ NOTE — "Debugging this browser" banner: When you click the extension icon, Chrome briefly shows a yellow "DevTools is debugging this browser" banner for 1–3 seconds. This is a mandatory Chrome security notice and cannot be suppressed. It appears because the extension uses the Chrome Debugger Protocol . The debugger is detached immediately after the certificate data is retrieved. ── WHO IS IT FOR? ── • Web developers verifying certificate deployments • Security engineers auditing certificate chains • IT admins checking expiry dates and issuers No account required. No ads. No analytics. Open source.
