About

Obsidian Download Importer helps you move downloaded notes, documents, images, video, and audio into a chosen Obsidian vault folder.

Instead of importing files automatically, the extension shows pending downloads in the toolbar popup. You decide whether to import each file into Obsidian or cancel it.

Supported file types include:

Notes and documents: txt, pdf, csv, xlsx, md, canvas
Images: png, jpg, jpeg,
Video: mp4
Audio: mp3,
Features:

Review downloads before importing
Import to a single configurable folder inside an Obsidian vault
Copy or move mode
Automatic rename option for duplicate filenames
Optional support for download folders outside ~/Downloads
Local-only Native Messaging host for filesystem access
Important: Chrome extensions cannot write directly to arbitrary local folders. To import files into an Obsidian vault, this extension requires the companion Native Messaging host to be installed on the same computer.
