About

Dictutorial is a dictation tutor that reads texts out loud for you to practise your typing, reading, listening, spelling, and translation skills.

In reading mode, it will read the text out loud whilst you follow the (optionally highlighted) text.

In dictation mode, you are asked to input the word or words that you hear, helping you to hone your typing skills when taking dictation.

When used with parallel texts in dual-language (bilingual) mode, it speaks alternate sentences from a text and its translation, assisting in the attainment of many foreign language skills, including listening, reading, orthography, translation, and pronunciation.

You can import text files in txt or html format, downloaded for example from the Gutenberg Project web site. During a reading or dictation exercise, the text is read out aloud in a voice of your choosing.
