About

Jira Ticket Hover Preview shows a lightweight preview card when you hover over a Jira ticket link on any webpage — so you never have to click through to Jira just to remember what a ticket is about.

Jira keys like PROJ-123 appear everywhere: Slack threads, pull request descriptions, design docs, standup notes, emails. Every time you click one, you lose your place, wait for Jira to load, and then have to navigate back. This extension fixes that.

FEATURES
• Works everywhere — any page that links to *.atlassian.net/browse/KEY-123
• Shows title, status, assignee, priority, and issue type at a glance
• Uses your existing Jira session — no API tokens, no OAuth setup, no configuration. If you're signed in to Jira in the same browser, it just works.
• Fast — responses are cached in memory for 5 minutes so hovering the same ticket twice is instant
• Isolated UI — the preview card is rendered in a closed Shadow DOM so the host page's CSS can't leak in and break the layout
• Graceful error handling — clear, distinct states for not signed in, no permission, ticket not found, rate limited, and network failures
• Keyboard-friendly — press Escape to dismiss the preview

HOW IT WORKS
When you hover over a link to a Jira ticket, the extension waits a short moment, then asks Jira's REST API (/rest/api/3/issue/KEY) for the ticket details using the session cookies that are already in your browser. The result is rendered into a small card next to the link.

PRIVACY
The extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to third parties. All requests go directly from your browser to your own Jira Cloud workspace. There are no analytics, no tracking, and no remote servers involved.
