About
Every day, AI-generated and manipulated photos spread through social feeds and news sites faster than most people can fact-check them. Attestia brings instant image verification into your browser, so you can question what you see without leaving the page. What this extension does: Attestia adds AI-powered authenticity checks to images on websites you choose. When you see a photo that looks suspicious — or simply important — you can run an AI Check and get a quick result: whether the image is more likely AI-generated or REAL, along with a short verdict and explanation. The extension is built on Attestia Protocol, the same verification technology behind attestiaprotocol.xyz — a decentralized approach to media trust in the age of deepfakes. How to use it: Install the extension and open Settings. Enable the websites where you want Attestia to work (e.g. Facebook, X, or any site you add). Choose how you prefer to verify: On-image button — an AI Check button appears in the top-right corner of large images. Right-click only — no button on images; right-click a photo and select AI Check with Attestia. Keyboard shortcut — press Alt+Shift+V on the image under your cursor (works in both modes). Results appear in a small panel: AI/REAL score, verdict, and reasoning from the detector. Why install Attestia Verify in context — check images exactly where you encounter them: feeds, articles, and timelines. Save time — no screenshots, no switching apps, no manual uploads. Stay in control — Attestia runs only on sites you enable. Nothing is injected on pages you haven’t opted into. Fight misinformation — deepfakes and synthetic media are a growing problem; a quick signal before you share can make a difference. Transparent technology — powered by Attestia’s detector API, part of a broader protocol for verifiable media authenticity. Who is it for: Anyone who reads news or social media and wants a fast sanity check on suspicious images Journalists, researchers, and community moderators who need a lightweight first pass People who care about trust what you see in an AI-saturated internet Supported experience Optimized for Facebook and X (Twitter) Works on other websites you add manually in Settings Skips tiny images (avatars, icons) so checks focus on real content Two verification modes: visible AI Check button or right-click only Privacy When you run a check, the selected image is sent to Attestia’s servers for analysis via https://attestiaprotocol.xyz and after the processing is removed. Your list of enabled sites and preferences are stored in the extension (Chrome sync storage). Attestia does not include ads or third-party analytics in this extension. For more information, visit https://attestiaprotocol.xyz or try the detector at https://attestiaprotocol.xyz/try-detector.
