About
Grabber: A Secure Productivity Tool for Technical Professionals Overview Grabber is a high-efficiency browser extension for Chrome, designed for engineers, security analysts, and other tech professionals. It provides a secure, client-side-only method for rapidly collecting and managing text snippets and image references from the web. By streamlining data collection into a simple right-click action, it eliminates context switching and enhances workflow productivity without compromising security. Use Cases for Technical Teams Security Analysts & Researchers: Quickly collect Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) such as IP addresses, domains, and file hashes from threat intelligence reports. Save screenshots of phishing pages or vulnerability evidence directly from the source. Aggregate vulnerability descriptions and CVE details from multiple advisories. Software & DevOps Engineers: Snag code snippets, error messages, and stack traces from documentation or forums like Stack Overflow. Collect configuration details and log outputs from web-based monitoring tools. Build a local library of useful commands and API documentation references. Security & Data Handling Grabber is built with a security-first mindset, operating entirely on the client side. Data Locality: All captured data (text and image URLs) is stored exclusively on the local machine using the sandboxed chrome.storage.local API. No data is ever transmitted to a remote server or third party. Minimalist Permissions: The extension adheres to the principle of least privilege, only requesting permissions essential for its core functionality: contextMenus: To add the "Grab it!" option to the right-click menu. storage: To save the user's data locally on their device. downloads: To enable the "Export to txt file" feature, which is initiated solely by the user. No Network Activity: The extension has no server-side component and makes no external network requests. Its operation is completely self-contained within your browser. Content Handling: Text is stored as plain text. Images are not downloaded or re-hosted; the extension simply stores the source URL (srcUrl) of the original image. Complete User Control: You have full and final control over your data. The interface provides clear, explicit actions to delete individual items or permanently wipe the entire history at any time. How to Use Grabber The workflow is designed for maximum efficiency. 1. Grabbing Content To Grab Text: Highlight any text on a webpage, right-click on it, and select "Grab it! (Text)" from the menu.
