Skill Up is a productivity extension designed to help beginner/new software developers evaluate how their technical background aligns with job postings. The extension analyses the text on a webpage to identify matching keywords and highlights gaps in your current tech stack knowledge.

The core functionality includes a comparison tool that scans the active tab for technical requirements and compares them to your saved profile. A built-in modal allows you to manually add, view, and manage your list of technical skills. The extension provides an instant percentage based match to help you prioritise which jobs to apply for. To ensure data safety, a double-click function is required to remove all profile data, preventing accidental deletion.

Regarding privacy and security, all user data is stored locally within the browser using the Chrome Storage API. No data is sent to external servers. The extension is built using Manifest V3 standards for performance. This tool is intended as a rapid-assessment guide. While it identifies common technical terms, users should always perform a final manual review of a job's full requirements.
