About

World Radio is a tiny tuner for free internet radio. Pick a country, get the catalog, hear it. That's the whole product.

────────────────────────
WHAT'S IN THE BOX
────────────────────────

• Open the popup; the station list for your country is already there (auto-detected from your browser locale).
• Type any country to switch. 249 ISO 3166-1 countries are available, sorted by listener votes.
• Tap a station; it plays directly from the broadcaster. Audio keeps playing after you close the popup.
• Save favourites with one click. They live in your browser, not on a server.
• Light and dark theme follow your system setting.
• HTTPS-only mode is one click away in Settings, for stricter networks.

────────────────────────
WHAT'S NOT IN IT
────────────────────────

• No account. No sign-up. No login.
• No ads. Ever.
• No tracking, telemetry, analytics, or "anonymous usage statistics."
• No recording, no ad-stripping, no metadata rewriting — World Radio is a tuner, not a transmitter.
• No backend server we control. Everything happens in your browser.

────────────────────────
HOW IT WORKS UNDER THE HOOD
────────────────────────

• The station catalog comes from the community-run, CC0-licensed radio-browser.info project. Station names shown in the extension are factual entries from that public catalog; World Radio is a directory, not a publisher.
• Audio plays via a standard <audio> element in an offscreen document. World Radio never proxies or re-encodes the stream.
• Favourites, last-played station, and last country are stored locally in chrome.storage.local. Nothing leaves your device except the radio-browser catalog query and the direct connection to the broadcaster you choose.

────────────────────────
PRICING
────────────────────────

Free. No ads, ever. A future release may add a one-time-purchase Pro tier (sleep timer, side-panel UI, hotkey customization, custom themes). Everything in the current version stays free.

────────────────────────
PRIVACY (THE SHORT VERSION)
────────────────────────

The radio-browser catalog sees the country code you picked, with a generic User-Agent identifying the extension. The broadcaster you tune in to sees the same connection any visitor of their website would: your IP and basic HTTP headers. We see neither.
