If you spend a lot of time modding games, you probably know the frustration of downloading a mod only to realize it's for the wrong game version. The Nexus Mods Assistant is a straightforward tool we built to help you see that information upfront while you're still browsing the search results.

How it helps your workflow:

Immediate Version Checks
The assistant looks at your current game version and compares it with the mod's metadata as you browse. It places a simple badge on each mod tile so you can see right away if something is compatible or if it was built for a different version of the game.

Select and Download from the Grid
Instead of opening a new tab for every mod, you can use the "Files" dropdown we've added to each card. This lets you pick specific main or optional files and add them to a download queue. Once you've picked everything you want, you can trigger the whole batch from a single control panel at the top of the page.

Dependency Reminders
If a mod has requirements, the extension will catch them and let you know before the download starts. It pulls in the author's notes too, so you actually understand why a specific requirement is there and can open the links you need in one go.

Reliable Version Data
The extension doesn't just guess your game version. It pulls data from Steam branches and developer news to make sure the compatibility info is as accurate as possible, whether you're on a stable release or an experimental branch.

Games and Reliability
We've spent a lot of time making sure the version detection is reliable across a wide variety of titles. It has been specifically tested and optimized for many numerically based versioned games on NexusMods.com. However, extensive testing has only be done on Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, Skyrim Special Edition, and Starfield. The extension is modular by design, so it can resolve version data for just about any game on the Nexus catalog, but these popular titles have extra curated support to ensure the best results.

A bit about the tech:
We've designed this to be as light as possible on your browser. The extension uses a background service to handle API requests in an organized way, which prevents it from overwhelming the Nexus servers or hitting your rate limits too quickly. It also uses a local caching system, so once it learns about a mod, it remembers that info for your next visit. 

Everything stays local. Your API keys and settings are stored on your own machine, and we don't track your browsing history or collect personal data. We also included a simple power toggle in the popup so you can turn the whole thing off when you're just browsing casually and don't need the extra tools.
