About
Snapshot Insights is the browser extension for the Snapshot platform from Sunset Point Software. It is the in-browser capture and query surface for teams preserving the operational reality of legacy applications before those systems are retired. Systems change. Knowledge must endure. Snapshot preserves the screens, relationships, reports, embedded audit trails, and operational logic of systems being sunset — so historical integrity remains defensible, searchable, and usable long after the legacy applications are gone. What it does • Surface saved questions and searches when you visit a page that has already been registered in Snapshot. • Open or create a Snapshot page entry for the screen you're currently on. • Capture screens, text, and URLs from the system you're documenting into the Snapshot platform. Who it's for Snapshot supports Systems Transition Governance (STG) — the structured preservation work that happens before infrastructure is decommissioned. The extension is used by: • IT and modernization leaders retiring legacy systems without inheriting compliance exposure • Legal and compliance teams maintaining regulatory defensibility through system transitions • M&A teams integrating acquired systems without distorting historical records Why not migration or archiving Migration transforms data into a new system model, which can distort historical structure. Traditional archiving extracts static records without preserving how the system functioned. Snapshot preserves operational reality — the way the system actually worked — in a structured, machine-readable form that enterprise search and analytics can operate against. Getting started The extension is intended for existing Snapshot customers. The first time you open it, you'll be prompted to enter your Snapshot server URL (for example, https://customer.snapshot.io). Authentication is handled through your Snapshot account; the extension itself does not store passwords or access tokens. Privacy and data handling The extension communicates only with the Snapshot server URL you configure. It does not collect data for advertising or analytics. Host permissions are requested at runtime on a per-host basis, the first time you connect to a new Snapshot host. • Privacy policy: https://snapshotstatic.z13.web.core.windows.net/privacy/ • Data handling: https://snapshotstatic.z13.web.core.windows.net/data-handling/ • Terms of service: https://snapshotstatic.z13.web.core.windows.net/terms/ Snapshot Insights is published by Sunset Point Software, Inc.
