Doomscrolling remains one of the biggest limiting factor on productivity and reaching your true potential. The existing solutions set a timer or a site block but the mechanism remains the same: when you can, endless and mindless consumption of content, and the hope you find something new at the bottom of the screen. 

This is why conventional digital wellbeing extensions do not work. They all try to solve the problem through rational limitations by tapping into your willpower, while doomscrolling satisfies the primal limbic part of your brain. 

Friction does it differently. It fatigues your limbic system by putting a small "speed bump" between your fingers and the next post. To keep scrolling, you trace a short pattern of swipes, and the movement that we all know stops being automatic and starts being a conscious mental workout.
