    description
I wanted a tab manager that worked the way I wanted it to and that I could be sure was safe and secure to use. So I wrote one myself.

It organises my tabs into groups when the tabs are opened based on the rules you provide. It can auto group or auto pin if you want some tabs to always appear on the left. I pin my gmail and calendar and group everything else.

There is also an autoclose feature. I use this to close zoom tabs after a meeting is opened so I don't suffer from zoom meeting tabs clutter at work.

I'm publishing it for anyone who wants to use it. Please enjoy.
Automatically group Chrome tabs into tab groups based on custom domain and path rules you configure, and easily clean up unwanted groups.

Auto Tab Grouper simplifies your browsing by organizing tabs dynamically. As you open or navigate tabs, they are grouped and sorted instantly. It helps keep your tab strip clean, reduces clutter, and prevents duplicate groups of the same name.

    FEATURES
    • Dynamic Grouping — Groups tabs automatically as you create them or navigate to new URLs.
    • Domain and Path Matching — Create rules using exact hosts (example.com), wildcards (*.example.com), and paths (example.com/docs/*).
    • Smart Deduplication — Merges duplicate tab groups with the same title within the same window to keep things clean.
    • Group Cleanup — A dedicated screen in the options page to view all active tab groups and delete (dissolve) them in bulk.
    • Auto-Close Timer — Set specific URL patterns to automatically close matching tabs after a brief delay (1-10s).
    • Quick Keyboard Shortcuts — Use Cmd+Shift+G (Mac) or Alt+Shift+G (Windows/Linux) to prepopulate a grouping rule from your active tab.

    HOW TO USE
    1. Click the extension icon or use Options to manage your grouping rules.
    2. Add a new group title, select a group color, and list the URL patterns (e.g., "*.google.com/*").
    3. Click "Save" to apply. All active tabs will immediately sweep and organize.
    4. To clean up, click "Clean Up Groups" on the Options page, select the tab groups you want to dissolve, and click "Delete Selected Groups".

    PRIVACY
Your privacy is fully protected. This extension operates completely locally on your device. It does not collect, track, or transmit any user data, URLs, or browsing history to external servers.
