    description
Z Translator turns hovering into translation.

Hover any English or Arabic word on any webpage and a small, elegant tooltip appears beside it with the translation in the other language. Click the speaker to hear the word read aloud by your operating system's native voices.

▸ Truly offline — translation never leaves your device. The full dictionary ships with the extension as JSON files; nothing is ever uploaded, queried, or transmitted.
▸ Bidirectional, auto-detect — no toggle to switch direction. Hover an English word, see Arabic; hover an Arabic word, see English.
▸ 87,000+ entries — built on the GPL-licensed FreeDict eng-ara and ara-eng dictionaries, plus a curated supplement of common Arabic nouns FreeDict misses.
▸ Smart morphology — handles English suffixes (running → run, biggest → big) and Arabic morphology (الكتاب → كتاب, اهتماماتي → اهتمام, لل-, و-, pronoun suffixes, broken plurals, alef and ya variants).
▸ Native voices — uses your browser's Web Speech API, which on Windows means Microsoft David / Zira / Mark / Naayf, on Mac means Samantha / Alex / Daniel, and so on. Voices marked with ☁ require an internet connection (these are Chrome's own cloud voices); local voices stay 100% offline.
▸ Designed with care — hover the title bar and the Z mark gently breathes. Light and dark themes auto-adapt. The popup also auto-detects your browser language (English or Arabic) and switches its own interface accordingly, with a tiny A·ع pill to override manually.
▸ Privacy-respecting by design — no tracking, no analytics, no telemetry, no cookies, no fingerprinting, no account, no email, no anything. Read the full privacy policy: https://zaidalhulaiba.com/z-translator/privacy/
▸ Optional ☕ support — every feature in this extension is free with no gating, no premium tier, no ads. If it saves you time and you want to support development, the small ☕ button at the bottom of the popup opens a PayPal page in a new tab. Strictly optional, never required.

    How to use:
    1. Install the extension and pin it to your toolbar.
    2. Visit any webpage that contains English or Arabic text.
    3. Hover a word — translation appears.
    4. Click the speaker icon to hear pronunciation in the source language.
    5. Open the popup (toolbar icon) to type a word directly, switch theme, change voice settings, or override interface language.

    Permissions:
    • "Read content of pages you visit" — required so the extension can detect which English or Arabic word your cursor is over. The extension reads only that single word and never extracts, transmits, or stores any other page content.
    • "Storage" — saves your settings (voice, theme, hover delay, etc.) on your device so they persist between browser sessions.

▸ Native voices: uses the browser Web Speech API. On Windows this can include voices such as Microsoft David, Zira, Mark, and Naayf; on macOS this can include Samantha, Alex, Daniel, and other installed voices. Voices marked with ☁ may require an internet connection; local voices stay offline.
▸ Designed with care: light and dark themes auto-adapt, the popup supports English and Arabic UI, and trigger options include Hover, Alt / Option, Ctrl / Cmd, and Shift.
