Video Translator brings real-time translation to YouTube. It reads the subtitles and on-screen text in the video you're watching and displays a translation right over the video — so you can follow along in your own language.

Everything happens on your device. No servers, no accounts, no tracking. The extension uses on-device optical character recognition (OCR) to read text from the video, and Chrome's built-in on-device translator to translate it. Nothing you watch or read ever leaves your browser.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Open any YouTube video.
2. Click the Video Translator icon and choose your source and target languages.
3. Translations appear over the video as you watch.

PRIVACY
Video Translator is private by design. All OCR and translation run locally in your browser using bundled models and Chrome's built-in Translator API. The extension runs only on YouTube and requests the minimum permissions needed to function. It does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

REQUIREMENTS
• Google Chrome 138 or later (required for the on-device translation feature).
