Regret Meter is a free Chrome extension that is made for teenagers interested in making wiser shopping decisions. The program is based on a set of five questions that allow analyzing the user's age, monthly budget, previous buying history, and other factors. It provides personalized Regret Score before the user purchases something.
It is a live application that analyzes consumer's shopping behavior. It allows completing a fast quiz, calculating how financially harmful each purchase can be, highlighting your score with color codes (green = low risk; yellow = moderate risk; red = high risk). Thus, the consumer can learn which number of months' savings this purchase equals.
One thing that distinguishes the Regret Meter among others is its sincere attitude. Instead of blocking the buying process, this software shows the real opinion of other teens who have purchased that product, both positive and negative opinions. It helps to recall your own spending behavior and previous promises about how you could spend that money.
