About

Tolomail is a Gmail companion that helps you navigate long conversations, never lose a reply, and find attachments fast.

The name comes from "Tolomeo" — Italian for Ptolemy, the Alexandrian astronomer who first mapped the heavens — plus "mail." Tolomail maps your inbox the way Ptolemy mapped the stars.

▸ THREAD MAP
See the structure of any Gmail conversation at a glance. Tolomail renders threads as a tree (reply relationships), a table (sortable by date/sender), or a list of who you're still waiting on. Open any thread in Gmail and the map appears in Chrome's side panel.

▸ AWAITING REPLIES
Tolomail scans your sent mail and flags threads where you've replied but the other person hasn't responded for N days (configurable). Stop losing important conversations to inbox overload.

▸ ATTACHMENTS, SEARCHABLE
Browse every attachment you've ever received in one searchable view. Filter by type (PDF, image, doc), sender, or date. Click to open in Gmail. Off by default — turn on in Settings or from the toolbar popup.

▸ THREAD-LEVEL NOTES
Pin a private note to any thread — visible only in Tolomail, never sent to anyone. Useful for "called Anna about this, awaiting paperwork" annotations.

▸ MULTI-ACCOUNT SUPPORT
Use Tolomail with multiple Gmail accounts. Each account's data is fully isolated. Switch between accounts in the popup, or let Tolomail auto-follow your Gmail tab focus.

▸ OPTIONAL CLOUD BACKUP
Sync your notes, awaiting list, and favorites to your own Google Drive (in a private folder only Tolomail can see) so they survive a Chrome reinstall or move to a new computer. Off by default. Toggle on in Settings to enable.

▸ PRIVACY-FIRST
• Your Gmail data is read in your browser and stored locally on your device — never uploaded to any Tolomail server.
• Tolomail does not run any backend service that receives your data.
• No analytics, no tracking, no ads.
• Open about what permissions are used and why (see Privacy Policy).

PERMISSIONS

• Gmail (read-only): to render thread maps and extract attachment metadata
• Google Drive (appdata only): for the optional notes backup
• Standard Chrome permissions (storage, side panel, downloads) for local data and UI

KNOWN LIMITATIONS

• Tolomail reads your Gmail; it never modifies, sends, or deletes mail.
• Large mailboxes (>10k attachments) take a few minutes for the first sync.
• Multi-account auto-switching uses Gmail's /u/N/ URL pattern; if you use the same Google account in multiple Chrome profiles, switching is tab-focus-based.
