About

ONTranslator is a Chrome extension that translates subtitles on YouTube, Netflix, and Twitch in real time. The translation appears on top of the original subtitles — you watch content in the original language and read the translation as a helpful overlay.

Who it’s for
You watch videos, podcasts, and streams in a foreign language
You want to understand speech without replacing the platform’s subtitles
You’re learning a language and want to see the original and translation side by side
How it works
Install the extension
Open YouTube, Netflix, or Twitch
Turn on subtitles (CC) in the player
Choose your target language in the extension menu
The translation appears above the player’s subtitles. You can keep the original subtitles on to compare phrases more easily.

Supported platforms
YouTube — auto-generated and uploaded captions
Netflix — player subtitles
Twitch — live stream captions
Features
Real-time subtitle translation
Multiple target languages (Russian, English, German, French, and more)
Smooth display: lines stay on screen long enough to read comfortably
Adjustable display time, font size, and opacity
Optional: show the original line under the translation
Google Translate by default
DeepL API support for higher quality (your own API key)
Settings
Use the popup to quickly enable/disable translation and change the language. Full settings include translation service, DeepL key, display options, and how long subtitles stay on screen.

Important
Subtitles (CC) must be enabled in the video player
The extension does not replace official platform subtitles — it adds a translation overlay
Translation quality depends on the service you choose (Google / DeepL)
Privacy
Subtitle text is sent only to the translation service you select. If you add a DeepL API key, it is stored locally in your browser settings.
