    Write freely. Send confidently.

rewrite.so helps you turn rough thoughts into send-ready writing in many of the text boxes you already use.

Type the rough version first. Focus a supported input field, double-tap Shift, and rewrite.so streams three send-ready versions of your text:

    - Faithful — clean up grammar, spelling, and clarity while staying close to the original.
    - Casual — make the text warmer, shorter, and more conversational. Good for chat and everyday messages.
    - Formal — turn rough notes into clear, professional writing. Good for emails and shared documents.

Pick a rewrite with your mouse, or press 1, 2, or 3 to replace the text in place. No separate editor. No copy-paste loop.

    What it is good for:

    - Polishing messages before sending them
    - Rewriting awkward drafts into natural English or Chinese
    - Switching tone between casual and professional
    - Translating while preserving the original meaning
    - Cleaning up short notes, comments, emails, and support replies

    Privacy by design:

    - rewrite.so does not store the text you rewrite.
    - rewrite.so does not store the rewritten results.
    - Password, hidden, credit-card, CVV, OTP, token, readonly, and disabled fields are excluded.
    - Text is sent only when you actively trigger a rewrite.
    - The extension does not read your browsing history.
    - There are no ads and no behavioral advertising.

The extension works in regular text inputs, textareas, and many contenteditable editors. Some complex editors are not supported yet, including Google Docs, Gmail compose, and inputs inside iframes.

Free usage is included. Signed-in users can configure Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) with an OpenAI-compatible endpoint. They can also upgrade to Pro for higher hosted-model quota; BYOK and Pro are not mutually exclusive.

rewrite.so is a Chrome extension that turns whatever you typed into three native-sounding rewrites — right inside the text field, in many of the websites you already use.

Working in a second language, learning a new one, or posting in public? Double-tap Shift in any supported input. Three streaming rewrites appear in place:

    - Faithful — fix typos, grammar, and clarity while staying close to what you wrote.
    - Casual — warmer, shorter, conversational. Good for Slack, DMs, comments.
    - Formal — clear and professional. Good for emails and shared docs.

Press 1, 2, or 3 (or click) to replace the text in place. No copy-paste. No separate editor. No tab switch.

    What it's good for:

    - Cross-language work: write your draft in your native language, get three English (or any target-language) tones to pick from before you send. Slack to a teammate in casual; a client email in formal; a PR description in neutral.
    - Learning a language: write in your target language and compare three native phrasings side by side. Pro Learning Mode adds a 💡 button on each rewrite — click it to see, in your UI language, why the wording was changed.
    - Public posting: think out loud in your native language; pick the safest English phrasing before hitting Post on X, Reddit, Hacker News, or any public thread.

Multi-language by default. CJK and European languages are first-class — write Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, Spanish, French, English, and more, in either direction. Set a fixed target language or let it auto-detect from the page.

    Privacy by design:

    - rewrite.so does not store the text you rewrite.
    - rewrite.so does not store the rewritten results.
    - Password, hidden, credit-card, CVV, OTP, token, readonly, and disabled fields are excluded — hardcoded, not a setting.
    - Text is sent only when you actively trigger a rewrite.
    - The extension does not read your browsing history.
    - No ads, no tracking cookies, no third-party analytics.

Works in regular text inputs, textareas, and many contenteditable editors including Reddit, X (Twitter), and GitHub. Some complex editors are not supported yet, including Google Docs, Gmail compose, and inputs inside iframes.

Free usage is included — 30 rewrites per month for signed-in users, all three styles, language auto-detection. Signed-in users can also configure Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) with any OpenAI-compatible endpoint (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure, Groq, DeepSeek, etc.) at no extra cost from us. Pro ($7.99/month on annual billing) unlocks 2,000 rewrites/month on our hosted model, priority support, and Learning Mode — the 💡 "why was this changed" explanations.
