About

PageQuizzer turns any web page into a quiz — using AI to generate multiple-choice and true/false questions from the content you're reading. It's built on retrieval practice, one of the most effective study techniques backed by cognitive science research.

Getting started guide: https://johnmarkos.github.io/page-quizzer/docs/guide.html

How it works:
Open any web page or PDF, click the PageQuizzer icon, and get a quiz in seconds. Answer questions, review what you missed, and retry the ones you got wrong.

Supported content:
- Web pages and articles
- PDFs (including long documents with page-range sections)
- Selected text (right-click > "Quiz this selection")
- Pasted text (bring your own content)

Long-form reading:
For books, papers, and lengthy documents, PageQuizzer automatically segments the content into manageable sections. Track your progress through the whole document, pick up where you left off, and see your scores across sections in the Library view.

Bring your own AI provider:
PageQuizzer works with the AI provider you choose. Supports Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT), Google Gemini, and Ollama for fully local, offline quiz generation. You supply your own API key — nothing goes through our servers.

Features:
- Multiple-choice and true/false questions with explanations
- Timed quiz mode (15, 30, or 60 seconds per question)
- Keyboard shortcuts for fast answering (1-4, Enter, S to skip)
- Quiz history with topic categorization and filtering
- Export quizzes as standalone HTML pages or OpenQuizzer JSON
- Import and export quiz history as JSON
- Per-tab quiz sessions — quiz multiple pages at once

Privacy-first:
All data stays in your browser. No accounts, no analytics, no telemetry. API keys are stored locally and never shared. See our privacy policy for full details.
