About
When searching for jobs, I often find that ads rely heavily on acronyms and initialisms. Having worked in tech for many years, I have seen many acronyms but occasionally don't know what they actually mean. It also occurred to me that others might have this problem, and be put off by their seeming ignorance. Hence, the Acronymicon. The Acronymicon is a lightweight acronym detector and dictionary intended for all, but primarily aimed at job seekers, including English non-native speakers. Designed primarily for job advertisements but usable anywhere, the Acronymicon can scan the page and return the most likely value for any acronyms it finds. It will also take a best guess at the sector for the page, which helps it inform the context it needs to make the determination.
