About

In a Moon helps you recognize the creators and contributors who make the web great.

As you browse, the extension detects public creator identifiers—such as GitHub users, writers, and artists—appearing on pages you visit. You can then easily send small digital “thank-yous,” called kudos, to those people or projects.

No personal data is sold or shared with third parties. The extension only analyzes page content locally to identify public handles and links. When you log in and choose to send kudos, it communicates securely with your account.

Key features
	•	Detects usernames, project links, and social handles on the pages you visit.
	•	Lets you thank or reward contributors automatically via points.
	•	Keeps your data private—no browsing history is stored or shared.
	•	Works automatically on pages you visit across most major websites.

Why we ask for access to websites
To recognize creators wherever they appear, In a Moon needs permission to read page content. Analysis happens entirely on your device and never leaves your browser until you decide to send kudos by logging in.

Data collection and use
In a Moon analyzes the publicly available content of web pages that you visit to detect usernames or other public identities so you can send kudos. This analysis happens entirely on your device and is not stored, shared, or transmitted to any third party.

When you choose to sign in, the extension requests your name and email address as part of account onboarding. These details are used only to create and maintain your In a Moon account and to personalize your experience (for example, displaying your name on your profile). They are never sold or shared with advertisers or unrelated third parties.

The extension uses a secure OpenID Connect (OIDC) login flow to obtain an authentication token. This token is stored locally in the browser and used only to connect your extension with your account on https://api.thanks.computer, a service operated by In a Moon to store your kudos.

The extension does not collect or process personal communications, browsing history, financial, health, or location data. It does not sell or share any user information with advertisers or other third parties.

You may clear locally stored data at any time through your browser’s extension settings.
