About

Tabfixer turns tab chaos into order. Type the sites you care about into a drag-and-drop priority list, then a single click reshuffles every open tab in your active window to match — your YouTube tabs first, then Instagram, then Reddit, then everything else neatly alphabetised. Pinned tabs stay where they belong. Runs entirely on your device.

Priority list

• Drag-and-drop with smooth, animated reordering (pointer-events based, with 5px drag threshold so accidental clicks do not trigger a sort)
• Inline edit any entry by clicking it, remove with the trash icon, add new sites from the input above
• JSON export and import — back up your list or move it between machines
• Smart matching:
  – Type "youtube" to match m.youtube.com, music.youtube.com, www.youtube.com (any label match)
  – Type "youtube.com" to match the brand across TLDs — youtube.com AND youtube.de both qualify, fakeyoutube.com is excluded
  – Type "battle.net" — matches battle.net, eu.battle.net AND battle.de
  – Type "mail.google.com" — matches ONLY that specific subdomain (3-part patterns are exact)
  – Multi-part TLDs respected (news.bbc.co.uk groups under "bbc.co.uk", not "co.uk")

Sorting

• One-click "Sort now" via the popup
• Optional Auto-sort — every new tab and URL change is placed in the right slot automatically (700 ms debounce so bursts of openings stay smooth)
• Unlisted tabs are sorted alphabetically by their registrable domain, so account.google.com and mail.google.com both land under "g" — not under "a" and "m"
• Pinned tabs are never moved
• Subdomains of the same site stay adjacent (eu.battle.net before us.battle.net)

Cleanup

• Close duplicates (optional) — closes redundant tabs that share the same URL, keeping the active one
• Group by site (optional) — gathers same-domain tabs into colored Chrome tab groups; account.google.com + mail.google.com merge into one "google.com" group; eu.battle.net + us.battle.net merge into "battle.net"
• Undo — restores the previous tab order within 10 seconds of any sort

UX

• Modern dark UI — indigo→violet gradient accents, glass-style cards, smooth pointer-events-based drag with a lift effect and slot-shifting animation
• Toggle changes in the popup are live-synced to the full settings page and vice versa
• Inline-editable entries, animated add/remove transitions
• Custom scrollbar, brand gradient logo, monospace site patterns

Privacy

Tabfixer runs entirely on your device. Tab URLs are read in-memory only to extract hostnames for matching and sorting; nothing leaves your browser. The priority list and toggle states are stored locally via chrome.storage.local. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no ads, and no third-party services involved.

It is free and it will be free forever.
