ImmerRead Lookup turns any webpage into your reading practice. Open a Spiegel article, a Tagesschau headline, a Reddit thread in r/de, a GitHub README written in German, A youtube video with subtitles anything. Click a word. The popover answers four questions in one shot:

• What does this word mean in this exact sentence?
• What does the dictionary say it usually means?
• How is it actually used? (Two real example sentences.)
• How do I pronounce it? (One tap, native German voice.)

The "in this sentence" meaning is what makes this different from a dictionary plugin. ImmerRead reads the sentence around your click and gives you the meaning that fits, every time.

For nouns, you see the article (der, die, das) and case. For verbs, the infinitive. For separable prefixes, the full unit. For idioms, the idiom.

Save a word with one click and it lands in your vocabulary at immerread.com, where you can review it with spaced repetition, see it again in context-aware exercises, or read short stories that use the words you've saved.

How it works:
1. Sign in once at immerread.com.
2. Open any German page.(tagesschau.de, quarks.de etc.)
3. Click a word.

Press Alt+Shift+L to toggle the extension on or off on the current page.

Two reading modes:
• Immersion mode shows all explanations in German. Recommended once you're past B1.
• English mode shows definitions and translations in English. Easier to start with.
Switch any time from the toolbar popup.

Privacy:
The extension stays asleep until you click a word. No background scanning, no logging of pages you visit, no tracking pixels. When you click, the sentence around that word is sent to our backend to generate the in-context explanation, then discarded. Full policy at immerread.com/privacy.

Account required:
