About
Klunk adds a reliability badge to every used-car listing on Carvana, AutoTrader, and Cars.com — and a full reliability panel on every vehicle detail page. Now you can see how trustworthy a car is before you click
into it.
The Klunk Score is a 0–100 reliability rating for every model year, computed from real NHTSA owner-complaint data and refreshed every day. Higher means fewer documented problems. Lower means there's a paper trail
of issues you should know about.
WHILE YOU SHOP
• A small color-coded badge appears on every listing card.
• On vehicle detail pages, a full panel shows the score, the tier ("Smooth Ride", "Solid Pick", "Proceed with Caution", "Check Engine", or "Total Klunk"), and the total complaint count.
• Click any badge or panel to see the underlying complaints, recalls, and per-year breakdown on klunk.app.
• Compare years of the same model. The car you almost bought might be a known klunker.
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
• Does not track which cars you look at.
• Does not change prices, hide listings, or inject ads.
• Does not require a sign-up or email.
• Does not access any site outside Carvana, AutoTrader, and Cars.com.
ABOUT THE DATA
The Klunk Score is computed from owner complaints filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration — the same dataset reporters and J.D. Power cite. Methodology is published in full at
klunk.app/methodology. You can audit any score against its underlying complaints on every vehicle dashboard page.
Niche or new vehicles where NHTSA has limited data show a transparent "data not yet available" badge instead of guessing.
WHO BUILT IT
Klunk is built and operated by PrimeStack Solutions LLC, an independent software company. Free, no signup, no ads. Klunk pays for itself through affiliate referrals to parts, warranties, and shopping platforms —
never to manufacturers, never to dealers. Affiliate partners cannot influence a Klunk Score.
