About
Lunar Tone is a visual tone extension that helps make websites more comfortable to read and browse, especially at night or in low-light environments. After installing Lunar Tone, users can instantly turn bright websites into a calm, moonlit browsing experience. The extension provides multiple visual tone modes so users can choose the style that feels most comfortable for their eyes. Available tone modes include Natural, Mono, Dusk, Obsidian, Sepia, Invert, and Eclipse. Natural provides a soft and gentle tone for everyday browsing. Mono creates a neutral grayscale look for better focus. Dusk gives websites a calm twilight-style appearance. Obsidian creates a deeper midnight-style dark tone. Sepia adds a warm paper-like feeling. Invert provides a classic high-contrast inverted view. Eclipse mode darkens the page while keeping photos and videos looking more natural. This can be useful for image-heavy websites, articles, galleries, mail pages, and pages with embedded media. Please note that Eclipse mode may not work perfectly on every website because some pages use complex layouts, embedded frames, or custom media rendering. If a page does not display correctly while Eclipse mode is enabled, users can turn Eclipse mode off for that site. Benefits of installing Lunar Tone include: • Reducing glare from bright web pages • Creating a calmer and softer browsing environment • Choosing different tone styles for different preferences • Making long reading sessions more comfortable • Using Eclipse mode to keep photos and videos more natural while the page becomes darker • Setting individual websites to Default, Always On, or Always Off • Fine-tuning tone strength and media brightness • Quickly toggling or cycling modes with keyboard shortcuts Lunar Tone is designed for reading articles, browsing at night, checking mail, viewing image-heavy pages, and making the web feel less harsh on the eyes. Keyboard shortcuts: • Alt + Shift + O — Toggle Lunar Tone on or off • Alt + Shift + L — Cycle tone modes • Alt + Shift + Y — Toggle Eclipse mode Lunar Tone respects user privacy. The extension does not collect personal data, does not track browsing activity, and does not make network requests. User preferences are stored only in the browser using Chrome storage. Lunar Tone is built for calm, comfortable, moonlit browsing.
