About
Audio Cable turns your browser into a real-time virtual microphone mixer. It creates Audio Cable Virtual Mic, a selectable microphone input that works inside web-based communication tools such as Google Meet, Zoom, Discord, Microsoft Teams, Whereby, and other apps that use your browser microphone. Once selected, the virtual mic sends a live mix of your real microphone and any audio clips you choose to play. You can trigger sound effects, intros, transitions, background ambience, music clips, pre-recorded speech, lesson audio, or any other local audio file directly into your call — without installing desktop software, drivers, or a separate virtual audio cable app. What you can do with Audio Cable 🎙️ Create a virtual microphone in your browser Select “Audio Cable Virtual Mic” in your web app’s microphone settings and use it like a normal microphone. 🎚️ Mix your real microphone with audio assets Speak through your physical mic while playing sounds into the same audio stream in real time. 🔊 Use it as a soundboard for calls and streams Trigger effects, jingles, intros, reactions, transitions, hold music, or ambient background audio. 🎧 Monitor what others hear Enable local monitoring to hear the final mixed output in your headphones before or during a call. 🎵 Upload your own audio files Add MP3, WAV, OGG, and other browser-supported audio files to your personal library. 🏷️ Organize sounds with tags and categories Name, tag, search, filter, and organize your audio assets in list or grid view. 🔁 Loop background sounds Loop selected assets for continuous background music, ambience, or soundscapes. 🔒 Local-first and private Your audio files stay in your browser storage. Audio processing happens locally using browser audio APIs. No cloud account is required. Typical use cases - For streamers and creators Play sound effects, jingles, reactions, music clips, or branded audio directly into your live stream or recording. - For podcasters Trigger intros, transitions, sponsor clips, ambience, or pre-recorded segments during a browser-based recording session. - For remote teams Add light sound effects to meetings, play hold music when stepping away, or share quick audio clips without screen sharing. - For teachers and language learners Play pronunciation examples, listening exercises, lesson audio, or dialogue clips directly into a class call. - For accessibility workflows Route pre-recorded speech or generated speech audio into browser-based communication tools. How it works Audio Cable adds a virtual microphone option to websites that request microphone access. When a web app selects the virtual mic, Audio Cable provides a live mixed audio stream containing your selected physical microphone plus any audio assets currently playing. From the web app’s perspective, it behaves like a normal microphone input. Privacy Audio Cable is designed to work locally. Audio processing happens inside your browser Uploaded audio files are stored locally in browser storage No audio files are uploaded to external servers No cloud account is required Microphone permission is required so the extension can access and mix your selected microphone Important note Some apps, including video meeting platforms, may apply their own noise suppression or voice enhancement. These systems can sometimes reduce or filter music, effects, or other non-voice audio. For best results, disable noise suppression or background noise removal in the meeting app when you want non-voice sounds to pass through clearly.
