    description
XTagger is a browser extension for colour-coding and annotating people on X.com. Attach a short label to any account — "Economist", "Signal-to-noise: low", "Met at conference 2024" — and see that label wherever that account appears: in your feed, on their profile, in search results, in notifications.

    EVERYTHING IS LOCAL

Tags live in your browser. There is no XTagger account, no server, no sync service. Your annotations never leave your machine unless you deliberately export them. The extension does not make network requests of its own.

      • No account, no sign-up
      • No tracking, no analytics
      • No remote code loaded at runtime
      • Works offline once X.com's own pages have loaded
      • Open source under GPL-3.0

    COLOUR-CODED, ACCESSIBLE PALETTE

Choose from 32 colours chosen to be distinguishable across common forms of colour blindness. Re-tag someone with the same label to increase visual intensity — a cue that you've seen this pattern before.

    SHAREABLE COLLECTIONS

Export any group of tags as a compact XTAG: string. Paste it into a DM, a gist, a text file, anywhere. Others can import it with one click — no accounts, no cloud sync, no platform middleman.

    TYPICAL USES

      • Remember who you've muted and why
      • Track recurring sources in a fast-moving timeline
      • Flag accounts that posted misleading content so you recognise them later
      • Build and share curated lists of voices worth following — or avoiding
      • Annotate professional contacts you encounter on X

    COLOUR-CODED, ACCESSIBLE PALETTE
Choose from 32 colours chosen to be distinguishable across common forms of colour blindness. Click a tag in your feed to intensify it, and shift-click to ease it back. Intensity shows as deeper colour and heavier weight, so a stronger tag reads at a glance: a quick cue for how often you have seen an account's pattern. You can also choose how fast intensity climbs, from a steady one-step-per-click curve to curves where higher levels cost progressively more.
