About

SideSage is a lightweight AI assistant that lives in Chrome's side panel. Select any text on a webpage and instantly ask questions, translate, summarize, explain, or rewrite it, powered by your own OpenAI-compatible API key.

Key features:

Ask: Select text and ask any question about it.
Translate: Auto-detect language and translate between Chinese and English, or other languages to English.
Summarize: Get concise summaries with key takeaways.
Explain: Get clear explanations of selected text.
Rewrite: Improve clarity, shorten text, make it more professional or friendlier, and apply changes directly to editable fields.
Attach Page: Include full page content as context for your questions.
Floating Toolbar: Quick-access buttons appear when you select text.
Right-Click Menu: Access features from Chrome's context menu.
Streaming Responses: See results in real time as the AI generates them.
Dark Mode: Automatically matches your system theme.
Bilingual Interface: Supports English and Simplified Chinese.

How it works:

1. Open settings and enter your own OpenAI-compatible API key.
2. Select any text on a webpage.
3. Choose an action: Ask, Summarize, Translate, Explain, or Rewrite.

SideSage works with OpenAI-compatible API providers. You control your data. SideSage does not collect, store, sell, or transmit personal data to the developer. Your API key and settings are stored locally in your browser. AI processing is sent directly from your browser to the provider you configure.
