PromptSmith is a Chrome extension that transforms any web-based text editor into a context-aware AI writing assistant — while keeping you in full control of your data and API keys.
Unlike traditional AI writing tools that send raw text directly to a model, PromptSmith runs a 5-stage local analysis pipeline before generating a request. It evaluates tone, readability, platform context, content structure, and writing behavior to build a precise brief for the AI — so the output is actually relevant, not generic.
How it works
Most AI writing tools do one thing: take your text and pass it to a model. PromptSmith does five things first. It reads your linguistic signals, detects the platform context, analyzes your typing behavior, fuses all three into a signal object, and only then constructs the prompt. The AI receives a precise recipe, not a vague instruction.
