About

Know your network is call-ready, at a glance.

NQM lives in your toolbar and quietly checks your connection every 30
seconds — measuring the three things that actually make or break a VoIP or
video call:

🚦 TRAFFIC-LIGHT ICON — green: good for calls · amber: usable, with
hiccups · red: rough (robot-voice territory) · grey: offline. Signal bars
make the state readable without colour, and an optional badge shows live
latency in ms.

📈 THE METRICS THAT MATTER — latency (median round trip), jitter (the
call-killer) and packet loss, measured with tiny HTTPS micro-bursts to
Google and Cloudflare edge endpoints — including Google DNS at 8.8.8.8.

⭐ REAL CALL-QUALITY SCORE — an ITU-T G.107 E-model MOS estimate turns the
raw numbers into a single 1–4.5★ "can I call?" verdict.

🔔 SMART ALERTS — a notification when quality drops, and another when it
recovers. Hysteresis and cooldowns mean one blip never spams you.

📊 REALTIME DASHBOARD — open the popup and it streams once per second:
emoji status face, metric chips and a live latency sparkline that labels its
own timescale. Click the chart for the longer trend (30 min / 1 h / 6 h / 24 h)
with median, jitter, worst-loss and "% time good" stats.

🔒 PRIVATE BY DESIGN — no accounts, no analytics, no servers of ours.
Probes are empty requests; about 24 h of history stays in your browser.

Why no bandwidth test? A voice call needs ~100 kbps — any line that passes
the latency check has the throughput. Constant speed tests would saturate
your connection and corrupt the numbers that matter.
