The city of Veliko Tarnovo was the capital of the Bulgarian Empire between the 12th and 14th centuries. Veliko Tarnovo is located in central Bulgaria and is a popular tourist destination that attracts many visitors with its unique architecture. The old part of the city is located on three hills Tsarevets, Trapezitsa, and Sveta Gora. On Tsarevets hill is the palace of the Bulgarian emperor, the Holy See and a number of administrative buildings and residential areas surrounded by thick walls, this was originally the residence of the nobility.
