About

Tolmach is an extension that explains complex documents and texts in plain, human language.

Upload a PDF, contract, insurance policy, bank document, medical summary, offer, terms of service, manual, technical specification, official reply, or any confusing text — Tolmach helps you quickly understand what it says, where the important terms are, where the risks may be, and what you should clarify.

It helps whenever the wording is hard but you need a decision fast — without guesswork.

Tolmach is not just a short summary. It helps you truly understand: it explains the meaning, highlights what matters, surfaces risks, penalties, limits, auto-charges, ambiguous clauses, and suggests what you could improve.

Three analysis modes

1. Explain

For when you simply need to understand a document.

Tolmach explains difficult text in simple terms: what kind of document it is, what it is about, the main terms, what is asked of you, what you receive, what you agree to, and which points you must not miss.

Useful when you do not want to read dozens of pages of legal, banking, medical, technical, or bureaucratic language.

2. Risks

For when you need to see where problems could appear.

Tolmach looks for red flags: penalties, hidden fees, auto-renewals, auto-debits, limits on your rights, one-sided changes, liability, disputed clauses, inconvenient jurisdiction, vague wording, and terms that could be used against you.

This mode helps you quickly answer questions like:

— Where could I lose money?
— Where could I be restricted?
— What could go wrong?
— Which terms should I clarify before signing?
— Are there hidden obligations?
— Are there clauses that look unfavorable?

3. Improve

For when you want not only to understand a document but to make it safer and clearer.

Tolmach shows what you could ask to change, which wording to clarify, where to add a liability cap, where to remove ambiguity, where to ask for clear timelines, termination terms, carve-outs, limits, or fairer wording.

Especially useful for contracts, offers, NDAs, agreements with clients, contractors, employers, banks, insurers, and online services.

What you can analyze in Tolmach

Legal contracts

NDAs, service agreements, work contracts, sale/purchase, agency agreements, certificates of work, powers of attorney, agreements with clients, contractors, and partners.

Tolmach helps clarify each side’s duties, liability, penalties, timelines, termination, rights to deliverables, confidentiality, restrictions, and disputed terms.

Medical documents

Discharge summaries, protocols, conclusions, referrals, prescriptions, lab results, CT/MRI narratives, physician recommendations, and dense medical wording.

Tolmach helps translate complex medical language: what the document states, which values stand out, which recommendations were given, and which questions to ask your doctor.

Important: Tolmach does not diagnose and is not a substitute for a clinician. It helps you understand the text and prepare questions for a professional.

Banking documents

Loan and mortgage agreements, fee tables, deposit and card terms, bank notices, service rules, charges, and changes to terms.

Tolmach helps surface payments, fees, penalties, early repayment rules, rate changes, paid services, limits, and other critical conditions.

Insurance policies

Auto, liability, public and private health plans, policy rules, exclusions, payout terms, deductibles, limits, and grounds for denial.

Tolmach helps explain what is covered, what is not, when a claim may be refused, which documents you need, and which conditions matter most.

Employment documents

Employment contracts, contractor agreements, job descriptions, KPIs, offer letters, HR policies, employer NDAs, non-competes, and internal rules.

Tolmach helps clarify salary, bonuses, probation, duties, penalties, limits, confidentiality, overtime, termination, and disputed terms.

Real estate

Lease and purchase agreements, shared-equity contracts, HOA rules, management agreements, handover acts, notices, and addenda.

Tolmach helps surface rent, deposits, timelines, penalties, each party’s duties, refunds, repairs, utilities, termination, and risks for owners or tenants.

Technical texts

Instructions, error messages, requirements, APIs, regulations, specifications, technical assignments, documentation, system messages, and process descriptions.

Tolmach helps you grasp the technical gist: what is required, what broke, which steps to take, which limits apply, and which parts matter for your work.

Terms of service

Terms of Service, EULA, privacy policy, cookie policy, marketplace rules, platform terms, app or service rules.

Tolmach helps explain what you agree to: data collection, subscriptions, auto-charges, account suspensions, liability caps, refunds, changes to terms, and usage rules.

Government documents

Orders, court decisions, official letters, agency replies, standards, regulations, notices, and demands.

Tolmach helps translate bureaucratic language: what is wanted from you, deadlines, required actions, possible consequences, and what to clarify.

Finance and investments

Brokerage agreements, exchange rules, prospectuses, fund terms, marketplace rules, investment documents, and financial notices.

Tolmach helps surface fees, limits, risks, withdrawal rules, liability, rule changes, and easy-to-miss conditions.

Education

University, school, and course contracts, admissions rules, scholarship terms, academic policies, payment, refund, transfer, and dismissal rules.

Tolmach helps clarify timelines, duties, payments, refunds, study rules, limits, and terms that affect students or parents.

Any confusing text

Email, chat excerpts, company policies, task descriptions, rules, manuals, notices, public offers, website copy, or messages from a service.

Tolmach helps you quickly see the essentials: what it says, what is asked of you, where the risk is, what to do next, and which questions to ask.

Examples of how Tolmach explains

“This clause lets the company change the price without a separate notice.”

“If you terminate early, money may be withheld.”

“There is an auto-renewal risk: the subscription may be charged again.”

“This clause shifts liability for the other party’s losses onto you.”

“This document includes conditions where the insurer may deny a claim.”

“The discharge note lists recommendations you should confirm with your doctor.”

“The bank tariff includes an easy-to-miss fee.”

“In the technical spec the main requirement is to complete the API integration by the stated deadline.”
