Changelog
- May 23, 2026description
ROM-Helper is a developer-focused extension that bundles everyday web tooling with optional helpers for certain automotive / feature-app sites and Atlassian Jira. It’s for people who debug sites, switch environments, work with APIs, and track tickets—not casual browsing. Why install it One toolbar button for URL tweaks, saved dev logins, lightweight task tracking, JSON inspection, and (where enabled) site-specific debug overlays. Configurable: turn features on or off in Settings. What it does URL parameters: Optionally append query parameters on load (domain/path filters, wildcards). Quick URL Actions in the popup add or remove parameters on the current tab only. Credentials (local only) Store labeled entries (name, username, password, note) for developer convenience. Search, pin favorites, one-click copy; import/export JSON in Settings. Stored in chrome.storage.local on your device—not encrypted. Do not use for production or highly sensitive secrets. Tasks + Jira Short task list with optional site URL and Jira link. Open links from the popup; optional Jira URL handling can append a filter query parameter so list/board views can focus on tickets that match your team’s prefix convention (when you open a ticket from a task). JSON viewer On JSON documents, can replace the plain view with a syntax-colored tree. Files over 25 MB are not rendered in the viewer. Can be disabled in Settings. Automotive / feature-app tooling (optional) On the host patterns included in the extension, you can enable: Debug view: overlay with data inferred from BFF / vehicle-style API responses where the page’s traffic matches what the extension listens for. Feature App Version Changer: redirect between feature-app (js files) hosts (e.g. different version subdomains), with optional cache-busting and response rewriting. Use only on systems you are allowed to test. Extras Base64 encode/decode (UTF-8) in the popup. Shortcut to open the popup (Ctrl+Shift+Y / Cmd+Shift+Y, per Chrome shortcuts). Who it’s for Web developers, QA, and consultants who work with URLs, JSON, Jira, and (optionally) feature-app / automotive retail environments. Privacy & permissions (plain language) Broad host access is used so URL rules, JSON detection, and optional site-specific features can run where you need them. Credentials and tasks stay in local extension storage on your machine unless you export them yourself. Disclaimer ROM-Helper is a productivity and debugging aid. You are responsible for complying with your organization’s policies, site terms, and applicable laws when using redirects, overlays, or stored credentials.
