About
**DejaRead remembers what you read on the web, so you can find it again later.** You've come across an article last month that mentioned a specific concept. You vaguely remember the topic but not where you read it, or even what exact words were used. DejaRead lets you ask "what was that thing about quantum coffee brewing?" and finds it for you. **How it works** As you browse, DejaRead quietly observes which pages you actually read, not just visit, but stay on long enough to engage with the content. When you read something substantial, it captures the key passages and indexes them semantically, so you can search by meaning, not just keywords. Search later: type what you remember in your own words, in any language. DejaRead finds matching passages from your reading history and shows you the original pages. **100% local, 100% private** Your reading history never leaves your browser. The semantic index lives in your computer's local storage. The AI model that powers the search runs entirely on-device, no cloud calls, no tracking, no account. The only network request DejaRead makes is downloading the embedding model on first install. **What it's for** - Knowledge workers tracking their reading across many sources - Researchers building up familiarity with a topic over weeks - Anyone who reads articles, blog posts, papers, and forgets where they came from - People who don't want their reading habits surveilled by search-as-a-service providers **What it's not** - A bookmark manager (no manual saving, DejaRead decides what to remember based on your actual engagement) - A read-it-later service (no offline storage, no cleanup of articles) - A productivity dashboard (no graphs, no streaks, no metrics) **Bridge to AI assistants** DejaRead optionally generates copy-paste prompts for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or any other LLM. Ask the model to summarize what you've read on a topic, or to give you a thematic digest of your last few days of reading. The prompts are formatted to keep the AI honest and cite sources. **Privacy and trust** DejaRead is local-first by design. Feedback: [email protected] Website: https://dejaread.com
